I am a 4th generation midwife, licensed in California, skilled in the midwifery traditions of the Southern U.S. and South African Zulu tribe. After traditional apprenticeship, I received my formal education in hospitals as a nursing student and at the historically accredited midwifery school Maternidad La Luz. Ultimately choosing traditional midwifery without nursing school, and obtaining my license to practice midwifery in 2004 after the home waterbirth of my first born son. All three of my children were born at home in water, postdate and they have attended well over 280 births either carried on my back or sitting at my side. In 2017 I made the journey to South Africa to connect with my ancestors, and learn the pregnancy, birth and postpartum traditions of the Zulu tribe I come from and was reunited with. I am recognized & recorded in South Africa as a Certified Traditional Healer.
